Quill

Private writing, encrypted by default.

For the kid with a diary they want to keep private. For the journal writer who doesn't want their words sitting in a cloud account. For the novelist working on the book they're not ready to share. Quill is Coffer's encryption engine paired with a familiar Word-style editor.

Status

Quill is in active development.

The encryption layer is solid — it's the same SQLCipher engine that powers Coffer, already shipping in a production app. The current focus is the editor experience: how a private writing tool should actually feel to use.

01

What's planned

A familiar Word-style rich-text editor — formatting, styles, spell check, find & replace — backed by Coffer's AES-256 vault. Multi-document, with separate notebooks for separate writing.

02

Who it's for

Diary writers, journalers, novelists, students with sensitive notes, anyone who wants their writing private without learning a new tool. If you can use Word, you can use Quill.

03

What's different

Most writing apps treat encryption as an afterthought, if they offer it at all. Quill is the opposite: encryption is the foundation, the editor is built on top of it.
